General information

Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Armenia and Argentine Republic were established on January 17, 1992.

The Embassy of Armenia in Buenos Aires was opened in 1993. In 2006 Mr. Vladimir Karmirshalian was accredited as Ambassador of Armenia to Argentina.

On March 17, 2009 the President of the Argentine Republic Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner signed a decree on establishing an Embassy in Yerevan. On May 20, 2010 Mr. Miguel Angel Cuneo presented his credentials to the President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan.

Parliamentary friendship groups were created in the senate (September 6, 2011) and Chamber of Deputies (October 6, 2011) of National Congress of Argentine Republic.

Ambassador Diego Ernesto Alvarez Rivera presented his credentials to the President of the Republic of Armenia on June 1, 2012.

Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to the Argentine Republic Vahagn Melikyan presented his credentials to the Vice President of the Argentine Republic on september 27, 2012.

The Argentine Republic recognized the Armenian Genocide in 2007.
