General information

The Republic of Armenia attaches great importance to further strengthening of friendly and mutually beneficial ties with Japan, as well as to the establishment of new partnership relations.

Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Armenia and Japan were established on September 7th, 1992.

Since July 2010 the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia operates in Tokyo.

Since January 2015 the Embassy of Japan operates in Yerevan. 

On February 16, 2021 Areg Hovhannisyan was appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to Japan.

On January 11, 2024 the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Republic of Armenia, Yutaka Aoki presented his credentials to the President of the Republic of Armenia.
