Uruguay
General information
Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Armenia and the Oriental Republic of Uruguay were established on May 27, 1992.
On January 13, 2020, Alicia Aprahamian Kelek was appointed Honorary Consul of Armenia in Uruguay.
The Embassy of Uruguay in Yerevan was established in November, 2021.
On January 11, 2022, Armen Hayrapetyan was appointed Honorary Consul of Uruguay in Armenia.
On November 25, 2022 Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay to the Republic of Armenia Eduardo Rosenbrock Bidart presented his credentials to the President of the Republic of Armenia.
The Embassy of Armenia in Montevideo was established on March 21, 2024.
Uruguay is the first country to recognize the Armenian Genocide. On April 20, 1965, the Uruguayan Senate and the House of Representatives adopted the "Law on the Day of Remembrance for the Armenian Martyrs"
