The answer of Tigran Balayan, Spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, to the ‘’Armenpress’’ News Agency

15 April, 2013

Question: An information has appeared in the news media, that the working group on the issue of sanctions against Libya notes in the report presented to the UN Security Council that Armenia had supplied arms to Libya despite sanctions in force. How would you comment on that news?

Answer: In the February 15th report of the Panel of Experts created according to the UN Security Council Resolution 1973, which is dedicated to Libya, there is no such statement as if arms have been delivered to Libya from Armenia and there is no accusation against Armenia whatsoever.

In the report which is available on the UN website, a number of different private companies are listed, including those registered in NATO member states and which are associated with transportation of goods of military significance to Libya.

In that list are mentioned two companies with Armenian registration.

Armenia, in response to the inquiry of the Panel of Experts, has provided a complete and comprehensive information about the companies mentioned above and their activities.
