Briefing of Edward Nalbanian to the journalists in the National Assembly

10 September, 2013

Is Armenia planning to initial the Association agreement in Vilnius?

We have a clear position on this issue, and I have expressed it during the meeting with the Foreign Minister of Lithuania, which, as you know, is the presiding country of European Union today. Armenia underlined its intention to continue developing close and deep cooperation with the EU in all formats and directions, as well as to further our relations based on all the achievements that have been reached over the recent years as much as it is appropriate for the EU and so that it would not contradict Armenia’s decision to join the Customs Union, as is mentioned in the press release published after the meeting with the commissioner Štefan Füle.

Is there such a possibility?

We are saying that, and you saw that the Lithuanian Foreign Minister mentioned, that yes, we should continue developing relations between Armenia and the European Union based on the achievements reached in recent years.

Mr Minister, why do the members of the opposition express their discontent and insist that exhaustive explanation didn’t follow?

If one just wants to ask the question for the sake of asking and not to hear the answer, then they conclude that there was no answer. I have answered all the raised questions.

And if someone doesn’t get it or doesn’t accept the answers, as he or she has another opinion, it is up to them.
