Armenia welcomes today’s statement of the President of Germany Joachim Gauck on the Centenary of the Armenian Genocide.

With this step Germany pays tribute to the memory of the innocent Armenians annihilated in the Ottoman Empire under the guise of the WWI.

President Gauck’s statement is important not only from the point of recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide, but also is a valuable contribution to the joint efforts of international community in the prevention of future acts of genocide and crimes against humanity.
