Question: Mr. Kocharyan, how would you comment on the remarks of the President of Azerbaijan on the US State Secretary’s remarks regarding the Nagorno-Karabakh issue?

Answer: Ilham Aliyev’s remarks are result of the fact that the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair countries have long tolerated his provocative rhetoric and behavour.

That very approach of the Co-Chairs has led to the enhancement of Aliyev’s sense of impunity, and Baku has further intensified its disrespectful stance towards the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs and their proposals.

Azerbaijan not only refuses to implement the agreements reached during the Vienna and St. Petersburg summits aimed at creating necessary conditions for the advancement of negotiations, but also actually rejects the basic principles proposed by the Co-Chair countries for the exclusively peaceful settlement of the issue.
