On the 25th Anniversary of the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance between the Republic of Armenia and the Russian Federation
29 August, 2022Today marks the 25th anniversary of signing the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance between the Republic of Armenia and the Russian Federation which significantly outlined the principles and priorities of interstate relations between the two countries. This milestone document outlined the guidelines for the promotion of Armenian-Russian alliance in the spirit of centuries-long brotherhood, trust and mutual respect.
The last period has convincingly demonstrated that the further strengthening of the historical ties between Moscow and Yerevan fully corresponds to the vital interests of our peoples, serves to the social-economic development goals of the two countries and to the strengthening of stability in the South Caucasus. We successfully move forward within a wide range of directions of cooperation, enrich it with specific content and increase the effectiveness of collaboration.
We reaffirm our solid determination to continue the close, mutually reliable dialogue in all directions and to utmostly utilize the existing potential with the aim of consistent development of cooperation between Armenia and Russia.
The regular reliable contacts between the leadership of Armenia and Russia are of decisive importance for the development of the potential of our bilateral relations, which allow us to not only solve existing problems, but also to coordinate positions on important regional and international issues. The intent to comprehensively deepen and expand interstate relations on the basis of the principles established by the Treaty of 1997 was enshrined in the joint statement of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia and the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin with the official visit of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan to Russia from April 19 to 20, 2022.
In this regard, we express our gratitude for the special role of the Russian peacekeepers aimed to provide appropriate conditions for the restoration of peaceful and dignified life of the people of Nagorno-Karabakh. Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh highly appreciate the active steps undertaken by the Russian side aimed at establishing comprehensive peace, an environment of trust, and prosperity in the South Caucasus region. We are sure that the path of establishing stability in the region is the precise implementation of the trilateral statements of November 9, 2020, January 11 and November 26, 2020.
We greatly value our friendship with brotherly Russia and are determined to further strengthen Armenian-Russian allied relations for the prosperity of our countries and peoples.
