RENEWAL OR OBTAINING OF PASSPORT FOR THE FIRST TIME FOR A MINOR UNDER THE AGE OF 16 

A passport of a citizen of the Republic of Armenia is issued to citizens under the age of 16 upon request, based on the application submitted by one parent or a legal representative in person. Passports are issued for a 3-year validity period to minors under the age of 6, for a 5-year validity period to minors from 6 to 16, and until the passport holder turns 19 to male citizens under the age of 16.

  2. Three identical color photos, 35x45 mm in size (taken in the last six months),
  3. The expired passport, as well as the copies of Pages 2 through 5,
  4. The marriage certificate of the parents and their copy
  5. In case the marriage had not been registered before the birth of the child,

a) the certificate of acknowledgment of paternity and its copy or

b) a reference on single motherhood and its copy or

c) the death certificate of a parent, or the court decision on recognizing a parent missing or deceased person issued by the established procedure, and its copy;

6. Passports of the parents, as well as the copies of their Pages 2 through 5

7. The receipt of payment of the consular fee.

Attention:

  • If the passport is issued to a minor for the first time, the birth certificate of the minor and its copy must be provided together with all the documents mentioned above:
  • If the passport is issued to a minor following the obtention of citizenship of the Republic of Armenia by one or by both parents of the minor, both parents and the minor, if the minor has turned 14 years old, shall sign a consent for acquiring of citizenship of the Republic of Armenia and passport of the citizen of the Republic of Armenia by the minor (if no ID of the Republic of Armenia has been issued to the minor).
  • No fee shall apply for validating the consent of the minor to acquire citizenship and a passport of a citizen of the Republic of Armenia if the consent is signed at the diplomatic representation of the Republic of Armenia.
  • If one of the parents cannot sign the consent in person at the diplomatic representation, that parent's consent must be notarized and validated with an Apostille or consular legalization, with further translation into Armenian and validation with an Apostille or consular legalization of the translation.

 

Important Information

  • Documents issued by foreign countries (certificates of vital records, references, notary documents) must be validated with Apostille or consular legalization.
  • Documents written in a foreign language must be translated into Armenian after they are validated with an Apostille or consular legalization.
  • If the translation is done in a foreign country, it shall be validated with Apostille or consular legalization.
  • No fees apply for services (does not apply to the translation of documents) provided by the diplomatic representation during the process of passport issuing (i.e., requests to the Armenian state authorities, authentication of documents issued by the Armenian state authorities, or signature validation).

 

MANDATORY MILITARY CONSCRIPTION REQUIREMENT

Male citizens who turn 16 years old in the year when their application is submitted are subject to military conscription.

  2. Statement of commitment to appear (provided by the diplomatic representation at the time of your visit),
  3. Autobiography,
  4. Copy of the Birth Certificate,
  5. Copy of the passport,
  6. Two identical color photos, 35x45 mm in size (taken in the last six months),
  7. Certificate of the residential address,
  8. Reference on a household with mention of the residential address and each member of the household,
  9. Reference letter (issued by the educational institution bearing the seal of the institution and the signature of the respective official),
  10. Documents about the health conditions (if applicable). 

  

RENEWAL OR OBTAINING OF PASSPORT FOR THE FIRST TIME FOR ADULTS (OVER 16 YEARS OLD)

The validity period of passports issued to the adults is 10 years;

Nevertheless, the passport validity of male citizens over 16 years old shall expire on the date when the passport holder turns 19, and if the passport holder has already turned 19, the validity of the passport shall expire on the date of expiration of the permission for the deferment from mandatory military conscription or for medical re-examination issued in accordance with the Law on Military Service and the Status of Servicemen.

  1. Application (download);
  2. Three identical color photos, 35x45 mm in size (taken in the last six months);
  3. The expired passport, as well as the copies of Pages 2 through 5;
  4. Military service document and copies of all its pages (for male adults subject to military service at the age from 18 to 55 years old); or Reference on the military conscription; or the document granting the deferment from mandatory military conscription;
  5. The receipt of payment of the consular fee.

Important Information

  • In case changes have to be made in passport information and any discrepancies of records in the document, the document on which basis the changes or the amendments shall be made must be provided together with all the documents mentioned above;
  • Documents written in a foreign language must be translated into Armenian after they are validated with an Apostille or consular legalization.
  • If the translation is done in a foreign country, it shall be validated with Apostille or consular legalization.
  • If you wish to receive a certificate when submitting your passport renewal application, one additional photo must be provided.

 

IF THE PASSPORT IS LOST

  1. Application (download);
  2. Three identical color photos, 35x45 mm in size (taken in the last six months);
  3. Statement on the loss of the passport (download);
  4. Military service document and copies of all its pages (for male adults subject to military service at the age from 18 to 55 years old); or Reference on the military conscription; or the document granting the deferment from mandatory military conscription;
  5. The receipt of payment of the consular fee.

Important Information

  • By the legislation, an application to receive or renew a person's passport recognized as incapable may be submitted, and the passport may be received by the person's authorized representative.

  • Citizens with category first-level disability have the right to receive a passport based on the application submitted by the authorized representative. In this case, the document confirming the disability of the person and the copy of the document certified by a notary public (the originals of documents are copied and returned to the applicant), as well as the power of attorney of the person’s authorized representative certified by the law must be attached to the application.
  • Documents issued by foreign countries (certificates of vital records, court decisions, references, notary documents) must be validated with Apostille or consular legalization.
  • Documents written in a foreign language, after their validation with Apostille or consular verification, must be translated into Armenian.
  • If the translation is done in a foreign country, it shall be validated with Apostille or consular legalization.

 

 

ISSUANCE OF PASSPORT TO THE PERSONS WHO HAVE BEEN GRANTED CITIZENSHIP OF THE REPUBLIC OF ARMENIA

 

List of documents

  1. Application (download),
  2. Foreign nationality passport and its copy,
  3. Application (download) for military conscription (for male adults at the age from 18 to 55 years old),
  4. Notification on acquiring the citizenship of Armenia issued by a competent authority of the Republic of Armenia or the details of the Presidential Decree on the citizenship (the date and the number of the decree)
  5. The receipt of payment of the consular fee.

Important Information

Those male persons over 18 who have been granted citizenship of the Republic of Armenia shall be subject to military service before they turn 37 if they have not completed mandatory (12 months) or alternative (18 months) military service before acquiring the citizenship of the Republic of Armenia.
