Briefing of Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan with journalists in the National Assembly
23 May, 2018Para TV: Minister, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during his visit to Artsakh said that Armenia is a side of the conflict, which was followed by the response of Vigen Sargsyan, who claimed that calling Armenia a side of the conflict might create a risky situation. In your opinion, was it a slip on the part of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan?
Zohrab Mnatsakanyan: I would not like to comment on that episode, I would only reaffirm, as also did the Prime Minister, that we are now focused on one issue - the continuation of negotiations within the existing format, exclusively within the format of the Minsk Group Co-Chairmanship. And we need now to revive the dynamics of the negotiations. This is the priority issue.
Para TV: What will be the first step towards bringing Nagorno-Karabakh to the negotiation table? What do you start with to succeed?
Zohrab Mnatsakanyan: I repeat, the priority issue now is to revive the dynamics and to re-engage in negotiations.
Civilnet: Why did you agree to work with Nikol Pashinyan's government? For many years Pashinyan was on the opposite side with the authorities. Why did you agree in this case to work with Mr. Pashinyan?
Zohrab Mnatsakanyan: In our lives, all of us bear responsibility, and that is the responsibility for this country, responsibility for this wonderful atmosphere that exists in this country at all times. Especially when I look at you, young people, I feel very excited because I have a great confidence about this country, derived also from my own experience. Due to my work, I've been living in many countries and have always noticed that very quality of this country, which has given me so much enthusiasm: it is willingness and commitment to assume the responsibility.
Para TV: Has the work with Nikol Pashinyan inspired you these days?
Zohrab Mnatsakanyan: Yes, definitely, it is a very united team, the team which bears and shares the responsibility. I feel very well.
Para TV: Have you had discussions, are you being engaged in issues?
Zohrab Mnatsakanyan: Yes, of course, we are having discussions on every issue. I repeat, it is a very responsible, mature teamwork.
