Foreign Minister Oskanian Meets with President Boris Tadić of Serbia

On 19 April, Minister Oskanian met with Serbian President Boris Tadić. The Minister was in Belgrade to participate in the 16th Ministerial Meeting of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation.

Welcoming the Armenian Foreign Minister, the Serbian President spoke of the historical and cultural ties which exist between the two nations, as well as the friendly nature of the existing relations. The two discussed bilateral relations and the possibilities for cooperation in the current period and stressed effective cooperation within international organizations.

Minister Oskanian also spoke warmly about the similarities between the two peoples, and assured President Tadić of Armenia’s readiness to deepen relations in all areas. The Minister also referred to the prospects for cooperation within international organizations.

The interlocutors also exchanged views on international issues. The Serbian President explained his country’s position on Kosovo, and asked Minister Oskanian to present the main characteristics of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement peace process. Minister Oskanian pointed out that Armenia follows carefully the situation surrounding Kosovo, and he presented some details on the talks held between Armenia’s and Azerbaijan’s foreign ministers, on the previous day, in Belgrade.
