Minister Oskanian Meets with Grigory Karasin,Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation
20 March, 2008On March 18, 2008, Minister Oskanian received Grigory Karasin, Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister and Secretary of State.
After welcoming the guest, Minister expressed appreciation for Russia’s support at a pivotal moment for Armenia. While speaking on Armenia – Russia cooperation in various areas, they underscored the high-level of today’s relations.
The two discussed the situation in Armenia in light of the post-electoral developments, and ways of restoring order and returning to normalcy.
Minister Oskanian and Deputy Minister Karasin touched upon the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement process, ceasefire violations on the Armenia-Azerbaijan and Armenia-Nagorno-Karabakh lines of contact, and the recently adopted UN General Assembly resolution proposed by Azerbaijan.
They also explored regional and global security issues, the situation in Kosovo after its unilateral declaration of independence, Armenia’s and Russia’s stances on this matter, as well as the NATO summit to be held in Bucharest April 3 – 4, 2008.
