Minister Edward Nalabandian met the Head of the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs Micheline Calmy-Rey.

On June 27 Minister Edward Nalbandian received the delegation headed by the Federal Councilor, Head of the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs Micheline Calmy-Rey, who was in Yerevan on two day official visit.

Welcoming the swiss delegation, Minister Nalbandian noted that Armenia stressed the importance of strengthening of cooperation with Switzerland. He also highlighted that bilateral relations have been progressing dynamically.

Swiss Foreign minister expressed her satisfaction on the level of political dialogue, noting that it was greatly promoted by the mutual visits. The sides confirmed that the positions of two countries coincide on most of international issues. They also noted the effective cooperation in international organizations.

Minister Nalbandian noted that since Armenian independence, Switzerland was actively assisted  the progress of Armenia and its reforms, as well as has provided its technical and financial support in humanitarian issues. Head of Armenian Diplomacy stressed the importance of deepening the economic relations, and implementation of concrete steps aimed at the growth of commercial relations.

The Ministers touched upon the of visa regime facilitation between the two countries. Micheline Calmy-Rey announced the intention of Swiss authorities  to appoint in the nearest future a diplomatic representative in Yerevan.

The two also discussed about the Nagorno Karabakh peace process and  Armenian – Turkish relations.
