In his welcoming remarks, Minister Nalbandian mentioned that Armenia is intended to strengthen and develop mutually beneficial cooperation with NATO within the framework of Partnership for Peace program. Armenian Foreign Minister attached importance to Armenia-NATO Individual Partnership Action Plan as an effective format of cooperation. Edward Nalbandian also stressed that Armenia will continue cooperation with NATO in the fields of peacekeeping, fight against international terrorism, emergency situations and other directions.
Claudio Bisogniero praised the development of cooperation with Armenia and said that the North Atlantic Treaty Organization highly appreciates Armenian partnership and the results of implementation of IPAP for 2006-2008, as well as expressed hope that the Action plan for 2009-2010 will also be successfully implemented. Deputy Secretary General presented to Armenian Foreign Minister the results of the NATO’s Strasbourg Summit.
Within the context of discussions on regional issues NATO Deputy Secretary General expressed satisfaction on the progress fixed in the process of normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations and stressed that NATO welcomes the steps aimed at the establishment of normal relations between Armenia and Turkey.
