The meeting between the Armenian and Georgian Foreign Affairs Ministers took place in Yerevan

On April 26, the Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian held negotiations with his Georgian counterpart Grigol Vashadze who is in Yerevan on a working visit.
Welcoming his Georgian counterpart, Edward Nalbandian said that the regular high-level contacts between the two countries give an opportunity to oversee the implementation of the agreements, elaborate new ways of cooperation and all of these are a proof of strong relationship existing between the two neighboring and friendly countries.

“The President and Prime Minister of Georgia have already paid a visit to Armenia during four months of this year. Recently the Georgian Ministers of Internal Affairs, Defense and Transport were in Armenia. Such kind of intensification of the visits shows that the cooperation between Armenia and Georgia is not only thorough but also truly friendly,” stressed Minister Nalbandian.

In the course of meeting the sides had a detailed talk on the implementation of the agreements reached between the Presidents of Armenia and Georgia, as well as a wide range of agenda issues of bilateral relations.

The Ministers also discussed a number of international and regional issues. They mutually stressed the importance of peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh issue.

Edward Nalbandian and Grigol Vashadze touched upon the intensification of the consultations held between the MFAs of Armenia and Georgia, cooperation between the two countries in the international organizations and the issues of demarcation process of the Armenian-Georgian state border.

The agenda of the talks also included issues of concern to the Georgian-Armenian community. In this respect, Minister Nalbandian noted with satisfaction that the agreement reached during his last visit to Tbilisi on allocating funds for the reconstruction of the Armenian Drama Theatre in Tbilisi is becoming a reality.
