The Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian received EU Chief Negotiator Gunnar Wiegand

On May 23, the Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian received the EU delegation led by the EU Chief Negotiator over the Armenia-EU Association Agreement Gunnar Wiegand arrived in Armenia to take part in the fifth plenary session of the negotiations between Armenia and European Union over the Association Agreement.
The sides touched upon the agenda issues of the relations between Armenia and the EU, stressing with satisfaction the high-level of political dialogue and deepening nature of the cooperation.

In the context of the negotiations over the Association Agreement, the sides noted with satisfaction that a good progress has been registered since the start of the negotiations in July 2010. In the frames of the negotiations over the Association Agreement so far 18 Chapters of future Agreement have been negotiated and closed by the economic, sectoral and financial cooperation group.

Edward Nalbandian and Gunnar Wiegand had a thorough talk on the works being implemented in various formats of the cooperation and outlined steps that should be undertaken. The sides also exchanged views on the negotiations over the Association Agreement, visa regime facilitation and creation of Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Zone.

On the same day, the fifth plenary session of the negotiations between Armenia and European Union over the Association Agreement started at the RA MFA, opened by Minister Nalbandian.

Afterwards, the working meeting took place that was conducted by the Deputy Foreign Minister, Chief Negotiator Karine Kazinyan.
