The Armenian Minister of Foreign Affairs received the U.S. Assistant Secretary of Bureau of Arms Control, Verification and Compliance

On October 18th Edward Nalbandian, Minister of Foreign Affairs received Rose Gottemoeller, the U.S. Assistant Secretary of Bureau of Arms Control, Verification and Compliance (AVC).

Welcoming the guest, Edward Nalbandian expressed satisfaction that the comprehensive cooperation between Armenia and the United States also includes the area of arms control and stressed the importance of the visit of the delegation, noting that it is a good opportunity for exchanging views on the issues of security, arms control and disarmament.

Rose Gottemoeller expressed gratitude for the reception and underlined that the USA highly assesses Armenia’s contribution to the maintaining of international and regional security and attaches importance to the interaction in that sphere.

Edward Nalbandian underscored that Armenia continues to see the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe (CFE) as one of the cornerstones of security and stability in Europe and considers the necessary of updating the agreement and continuation of its implementation.

In the context of the implementation of the CFT, the Armenian Minister of Foreign Affairs drew the attention of the interlocutor to apparent violation of the obligations stipulated in the contract for years and the regular voicing of threats of use of force by Azerbaijan.
