The Minister of Foreign Affairs opened the seventh session of the negotiations over the Armenia-EU Association Agreement

On October 26, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Edward Nalbandian received the EU delegation led by the EU Chief Negotiator over the Armenia-EU Association Agreement Gunnar Wiegand, who arrived in Armenia to take part in the seventh plenary session of the negotiations.

The interlocutors touched upon issues that are in the agenda of the relations between Armenia and the EU, mentioning with satisfaction about the high-level of political dialogue and the deepening nature of the cooperation.

In the context of the negotiations over the Association Agreement, the sides noted with satisfaction that a good progress has been achieved since the start of the negotiations a year and a half ago.

In the frames of the negotiations over the Association Agreement so far 19 Chapters of future Agreement have been negotiated and temporarily closed by the economic, sectoral and financial cooperation group.

Edward Nalbandian and Gunnar Wiegand had a thorough talk on the works being implemented in various formats of the cooperation and outlined the steps that should be undertaken. The sides also exchanged views on the negotiations over the Association Agreement, visa regime facilitation and the creation of Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Zone.

The interlocutors stressed the importance of the Joint Declaration on a Mobility Partnership to be signed in Luxemburg on 27th of October, which would boost the process of visa facilitation regime.

On the same day, the seventh plenary session of the negotiations between Armenia and the European Union over the Association Agreement started at the RA MFA, opened by Minister Nalbandian.

Afterwards, a working meeting was held chaired by the RA Deputy Foreign Minister, Chief Negotiator Zohrab Mnatsakanian.
