The meeting of the Armenian and Iranian Foreign Ministers

On November 8, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Edward Nalbandian met with his Iranian Counterpart Ali Akbar Salehi, who arrived in Yerevan for a working visit.

Welcoming the guest on his first visit to Armenia as Minister of Foreign Affairs, Edward Nalbandian highly assessed the historically firmly established friendly Armenian-Iranian relations, which are growing continually upward by mutual efforts.

Expressing gratitude for the warm reception, the Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi mentioned that he was happy for the opportunity to visit Armenia. The Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs told that his country has always highly assessed the further development of the relations with its neighbor country, and would continue to follow its policy.

In the course of the talk the Ministers of Foreign Affairs Nalbandian and Salehi touched upon the preparatory works of the visit of the Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to be paid to Armenia at the end of this year.

Ministerial meeting's agenda included issues related to the cooperation in the political, economic, inter-parliamentary, energy, transport, educational, cultural, decentralized and tourism field of bilateral relations.

Edward Nalbandian and Ali Akbar Salehi discussed the implementation of the agreements reached in the framework of the Armenian-Iranian inter-governmental commission.

Foreign Ministers Nalbandian and Salehi exchanged views on the international and regional issues.

The meeting of the Ministersn was followed by a joint press conference.
