28 November, 2011

On November 28, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Edward Nalbandian received Philippe Lefort, the EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia.

In the course of the meeting the sides discussed a wide range of issues related to the cooperation between Armenia and the European Union. In particular they touched upon the visit of Catherine Ashton, the Vice-President of the European Commission and EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy paid to Armenia and the results of the Cooperation Council’s session held last week in Brussels.

Edward Nalbandian and Philippe Lefort had a thorough talk on the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh issue.

Issues concerning the reinforcement of confidence between the conflicting sides were on the agenda of the talk as well. In this regard, Minister Nalbandian paid the EU Special Representative’s attention to the state level anti-Armenian and racial discrimination propaganda carried out by Azerbaijan.
