On January 16, the Armenian Minister of Foreign Affairs Edward Nalbandian received John Prescott, the monitoring co-rapporteur on Armenia of the Council of Europe's Parliamentary Assembly (PACE).

Welcoming the guest, Minister Nalbandian highly assessed the contribution of the Council of Europe to the democratic reforms being implemented in Armenia. Minister Nalbandian mentioned that Armenia would continue to fulfill its obligations taken before the Council of Europe based on democracy, rule of law and protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms.

John Prescott gave a positive assessment to the progress made in the implementation of democratic reforms in Armenia.

The interlocutors touched upon the upcoming parliamentary elections.

Upon the request of the guest Minister Nalbandian presented details of the cooperation between Armenia and the European Union.

In the course of the meeting regional issues were discussed as well.
