22 March, 2012

On March 22 the traditional reception was hosted dedicated to the Day of Francophonie at the MFA. The RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan, MPs, Ambassadors of International Organization of the Francophonie member countries accredited in Armenia, heads of the French organizations functioning in Armenia and high-level representatives from scientific and academic sphere attended the reception.

Welcoming the guests, Minister Nalbandian said, “I am very pleased to host you at the MFA on the occasion of this traditional reception on the Day of Francophonie.

For years Armenia, with definite steps, is moving toward a full membership to the International Organization of the Francophonie, annually further strengthening its positions in the Francophonie world and its commitment to the Francophonie values.

One of the bright examples is the conference of French-speaking Mayors held in Yerevan in 2011 when by the invitation of the Mayor of Yerevan over 150 French-speaking Mayors from around the world arrived in Armenia. It demonstrated the power of the French-speaking decentralized cooperation and gave new opportunities to the Armenian cities to launch cooperation with their French-speaking partners.

From March 15 to April 23, the events dedicated to the Francophonie would be organized in Yerevan and Armenia’s regions (marzes) –more than 250 cultural, artistic, educational and university events. ”
