The 3rd session of the national commission coordinating the preparatory works of the participation of the Republic of Armenia in the “Rio+20” Earth Summit took place

On March 22 under the co-chairmanship of the RA Ministers of Foreign Affairs Edward Nalbandian and Nature Protection Aram Harutyunyan, the third session of the national commission coordinating the preparatory works of the participation of the Republic of Armenia in the “Rio+20” Earth Summit on the sustainable development and environment protection, to be held in Rio de Janeiro in 2012, took place at the MFA.

Minister Nalbandian opened the session. Summarizing the work done by the national commission during recent eight months, Edward Nalbandian mentioned that the activities are implemented according to the timetable, and the five thematic working groups created adjacent to the preparatory commission presented their thematic reports. Both the representatives of RA National Assembly, state agencies and National Academy of Sciences and non-governmental organizations were involved in the preparation of those reports.

Minister Nalbandian emphasized that the preliminary draft of the national report on “Rio+20” had already developed.

Afterwards, the First Deputy Minister of Nature Protection Simon Papyan presented the commission’s members the evaluation of the proposals and completions on the “Rio+20” progress reports, as well as the structure and main provisions of the report.
