Armenia would continue to support for the establishment of peace, security and stability in Afghanistan

On April 19 in Brussels the Minister of Foreign Affairs Edward Nalbandian participated in the enlarged meeting of the North Atlantic Council at the level of Foreign Ministers dedicated to Afghanistan.

The heads of Ministries of Foreign Affairs of over five dozen countries which are members of the NATO or participate in international security assistance forces in Afghanistan attended the meeting.

Delivering a speech at the Ministerial meeting, the Armenian Minister of Foreign Affairs reaffirmed Armenia’s commitment to continue to support the efforts undertaken towards the establishment of peace, security, stability and national solidarity in Afghanistan.

“Armenia came to Afghanistan to bring its commensurate contribution to our joint international efforts to assist Afghanistan to be in peace with its neighbors, and the international community, to prevent those destructive forces of terror that ravage not only their own soil but at times spread far away as mercenaries. We, in our region, experienced it and we know what it means.”

Minister Nalbandian underscored that Armenia would continue to contribute to the establishment, maintenance and strengthening of peace, security and stability in Afghanistan as up to the withdrawal of the international security assistance forces in 2014, as well as afterwards.

In the course of the conference Edward Nalbandian had talks with his counterparts from a number of countries.
