On September 6 Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian received Dan Burton, the Chairman of the Subcommittee on Europe and Eurasia in the US House of Representatives who arrived in Yerevan in the frames of a regional visit.

Welcoming the guest, the Foreign Minister mentioned with satisfaction that the bilateral cooperation between Armenia and the USA records the highest level in the history of bilateral relations in various spheres. The Minister attached great importance to reciprocal visits of representatives from the legislative body.

Expressing gratitude for the reception, Dan Burton, in his part, noted that being the Chairman Subcommittee on Europe and Eurasia in the US House of Representatives, he focuses on regional issues and is pleased to visit Yerevan and for the opportunity to discuss various issues of global agenda.

The sides exchanged views on the developments in the South Caucasus and neighboring regions.

Touching upon the Azeri-Hungarian deal over Ramil Safarov's release, Edward Nalbandian noted that the international community’s unanimous assessment represents a clear massage addressed to the Azeri authorities who seriously threaten regional security by their provocative activities. In that context Burton underlined that the United States is deeply concerned over Ramil Safarov's release.
