Foreign Minister received the Swedish Minister for Migration and Asylum Policy

On September 6 Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian received Tobias Billström, the Swedish Minister for Migration and Asylum Policy who arrived in Yerevan to take part in the conference marking the launch of the Project ‘Support the State Migration Service for Strengthening of Migration Management in Armenia’.

Welcoming the guest, Minister Nalbandian mentioned that Armenia attaches great importance to the development of comprehensive cooperation with Sweden in both bilateral and multilateral dimensions. Edward Nalbandian added as well that the regular meetings with his Swedish counterpart Carl Bildt give an opportunity to provide the regularity of political dialogue between the two countries.

Expressing gratitude for the reception, Minister Billström noted, too, that Sweden sees Armenia as an important partner and expressed satisfaction with the intensively developing bilateral interaction. Tobias Billström stressed that the agreements reached during his visit would contribute to the cooperation in the sphere of migration, as well.

The interlocutors discussed issues related to the cooperation between Armenia and the European Union. Minister Nalbandian mentioned that Armenia together with the EU institutions and EU member-states intensively develops cooperation in the sphere of migration.

During the meeting the sides touched upon the implementation of the provisions of the Joint Declaration on a Mobility Partnership between Armenia and the EU, including the visa facilitation regime.
