Edward Nalbandian received the Deputy Prime Minister of Iraq Rowsch Nuri Shaways

On September 7, Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian received the Iraqi delegation led by Rowsch Nuri Shaways, the Deputy Prime Minister of Iraq.

Welcoming the guest, Minister Nalbandian expressed confidence that the Iraqi representative delegation’s visit to Armenia headed by the Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister would contribute to economic interaction and underlined that the visit has an important political substance. Minister Nalbandian expressed hope that the agreements reached during the visit would open a new page in bilateral relations and further strengthen Armenian-Iraqi centuries-old friendship.

Expressing gratitude for the reception, the Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister noted that he is impressed by the results of the visit which for him is a historic one. According to Rowsch Nuri Shaways, the visit of the Iraqi delegation is aimed at reaching of some agreements on cooperation and raising of the relation to a qualitatively new level.

Rowsch Nuri Shaways stressed with satisfaction the effectiveness of the meeting in Yerevan.

The Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister reaffirmed the decision of his Government to open an Iraqi Embassy to Yerevan.

The interlocutors discussed a wide range of issues related to the bilateral cooperation in the spheres of economy, energy, health, agriculture, education and science, industry and tourism, and the expansion of legal framework.

In the course of the meeting, the sides attached great importance to the role of the Iraqi Armenian community in the development and deepening of the relations between the two people and countries.

The Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister presented the Armenian Minister of Foreign Affairs the efforts exerted towards the establishment of stability and internal solidarity in his country.

Minister Nalbandian and Prime Minister Shaways exchanged views on the developments unrolling in the Middle East.
