The bilateral meetings of the Armenian Minister of Foreign Affairs in New York

On September 27 the meeting between Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian and the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Ireland's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Eamon Gilmore took place. The meeting was attended by the OSCE Secretary General Lamberto Zannier, as well. In the course of the talk, the damage to the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh issue caused by the Azeri-Hungarian deal was discussed. The OSCE Chairperson-in-Office highly assessed Armenian’s commitment to settle the issue through negotiations.

Ministers Nalbandian and Gilmore touched upon the agenda’s issue of the OSCE. In this regard, the Armenian Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed Armenia’s support to the initiatives undertaken by Ireland's Chairmanship-in-Office of the OSCE towards the raising of the effectiveness of the Organization.

In the Permanent Mission of Kazakhstan to the United Nations Edward Nalbandian attended the meeting of Foreign Ministers of the member-countries of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO ). During the meeting the issues related to the coordination of member-countries’ foreign policy were discussed. The Ministers touched upon the agenda of upcoming meetings of the CSTO's statutory bodies, as well.

During the meeting between Edward Nalbandian and Slovenian Foreign Minister Karl Erjavec, it was mutually underlined that in the recent years the bilateral cooperation has been raised to a qualitatively new level which was marked by the reciprocal visits of the heads of the two states and mutual support in the international organizations.

The Ministers exchanged views on the developments unrolling in Syria. Edward Nalbandian presented his counterpart the relations between Armenia and the European Union, and the projects implemented in that format, as well as the progress registered in current negotiations.

Karl Erjavec informed about the impact of the global financial crisis on Slovenia’s economy and the steps being undertaken towards the overcoming of its consequences.

During the meeting with the Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Raşit Meredow, the interlocutors discussed the preparatory works of the upcoming visit of Turkmen President to Armenia, and the results of the 4th session of the Armenian- Turkmen intergovernmental committee for economic cooperation , as well as the issues related to the expansion of existing legal framework.

The ceremony of signing of the Protocol on the establishment of diplomatic relations between Armenia and Bhutan took place in the Permanent Mission of Armenia to the United Nations. Before the ceremony, Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian had a meeting with Lyonpo Khandu Wangchuk, the Bhutanese Minister of Foreign Affairs.

In the course of the talk, the Ministers stressed the importance of the establishment of diplomatic relations, expressing confidence that it would contribute to the launching of cooperation in the international organizations and establishment of friendly interaction.

Minister Wangchuk informed the Armenian Minister of Foreign Affairs about democratic reforms implemented in Bhutan.

Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian met with Grigol Vasadze, the Georgian Minister of Foreign Affairs. The sides touched upon the implementation of the agreements reached between the leaders of the two countries and a wide range of issues related to bilateral interaction.

During the meeting of Edward Nalbandian with the Minister for Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Montenegro Nebojša Kaluđerovic, the sides touched upon the establishment of legal framework between the two countries, promotion of business ties and decentralized cooperation. The Ministers agreed mutually to accredit ambassadors in each other’s capitals and to sign memorandum on the cooperation between the MFAs of the two countries.

On the same day Edward Nalbandian participated in the reception of French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius in honor of the heads of the delegations of the Francophonie International Organisation’s member-countries. The Secretary - General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon and the foreign ministers of the OIF member countries attended the reception.
