The Foreign Minister’s trip to New York is continuing

Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian who is in New York to take part in the 67th session of the UN General Assembly, continued his bilateral meetings with his colleagues from various states and heads of international organizations on September 28.

During the meeting between Edward Nalbandian and Thorbjørn Jagland, the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, the two discussed the preparatory works over Armenia’s assumption of the presidency in the Council of Europe and drafting of priorities under the chairmanship of Armenia, the issues related to the reforms of the Organization, and the implementation of the Armenia-CE Action Plan.

Touching upon the release and heroization of murderer Safarov by Azerbaijan, the Secretary General of the Council of Europe described it as an unacceptable one. In this regard, Edward Nalbandian highly assessed the reaction of CoE’s Secretary General and other international organizations unequivocally and unanimously condemning that deal.

In the course of the meeting between the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Russia Edward Nalbandian and Sergey Lavrov, many issues of the agenda on the Armenian-Russian relations were discussed, in particular the implementation of the agreements reached between the leaders of the two countries, the steps to be undertaken towards the strengthening of strategic interaction, the cooperation in the international organizations and the coordination of positions.

Foreign Ministers Nalbandian and Lavrov exchanged views on the overcoming of the situation created as a result of murderer Safarov’s release and the continuation of the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh issue through negotiations.

During the meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Russia, a number of international agenda issues were touched upon.

The main issues of the meeting between the Armenian Minister of Foreign Affairs and OSCE Secretary General Lamberto Zannier were the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh issue and the preparatory works of the OSCE Ministerial meeting to be held in Dublin.

In the Permanent Mission of Armenia to the United Nations Edward Nalbandian received Aaron Jacob, the associate director of International Affairs for American Jewish Committee. During the meeting the interlocutors exchanged views on the regional development in the South Caucasus and the situation in the Middle East.

During the talk between the Armenian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Minister of Belarus Vladimir Makei, the cooperation in the frames of the CSTO, CIS and other international organizations and the steps undertaking towards the expansion of economic cooperation were touched upon.

During the meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece Dimitris L. Avramopoulos, the sides mutually expressed satisfaction with the high-level of the relations between Armenia and Greece.

The Ministers discussed the implementation of the agreements reached during the Armenian President’s last year visit to Greece.

The interlocutors touched upon the cooperation between Armenia and the European Union and the progress registered in the negotiations being held in the frames of that cooperation. The Greek Minister of Foreign Affairs presented the steps undertaken towards the overcoming of economic crisis.

During the meeting between the Armenian Minister of Foreign Affairs Edward Nalbandian and Iran's Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi, the two touched upon a wide range of issues related to the bilateral relations and regional and global developments.
