The Armenian Minister of Foreign Affairs had meetings with his counterparts from the Arab countries

Edward Nalbandian who is in New York on a working visit, had meetings with the Foreign Ministers of Lebanon, Jordan and Syria.

In the meeting between Edward Nalbandian and Adnan Mansour, the Lebanese Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, the sides discussed the preparatory works of the Lebanese President’s upcoming visit to Armenia, as well as touched upon the bilateral interaction in the international organizations. The two also exchanged views on the developments in the Middle East.

During the talk between Edward Nalbandian and Jordan’s Foreign Minister Nasser Gouda, the expansion of bilateral relations was touched upon. In this regard, the two stressed the importance to accredit an Armenian ambassador to Yemen and to open an Armenian Honorary Consulate . The Foreign Ministers agreed to take steps for the organization of high-level reciprocal visits and development of business ties, as well as for the intensification of interaction in the sphere of culture.

Edward Nalbandian’s meeting with his Syrian counterpart Walid al - Moallem was devoted to the developments unrolling in Syria.

Syrian Minister of Foreign Affairs presented the recent developments in his country and his country’s approaches over the mission of the UN and Arab League peace envoy Lakhdar Brahimi.

Edward Nalbandian expressed his deep concern over the continuation of clashes and deterioration of humanitarian situation in Syria, pointing out that it seriously affects civilians, including the Armenians in Syria. The Armenian Minister of Foreign Affairs emphasised that it is impossible to overcome the situation without stopping to use violations by both sides and launching of a political dialogue which is in favor of interests of all Syrians.
