The Armenian Minister of Foreign Affairs received the Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister

On December 25, Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian received Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister.

Welcoming the guest, Minster Nalbandian mentioned that Armenia attaches great importance to the development of mutually beneficial interaction with the Islamic Republic of Iran, and it can be said that the Armenian-Iranian relations currently are at the highest level.

Expressing gratitude for the reception, Deputy Foreign Minister Araghchi conveyed the message of the Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs Ali Akbar Salehi to Minister Nalbandian and added that this year was marked with the stable dynamics of friendly relations and his visit was another opportunity to sum up the developments unrolled in 2012 and to discuss agenda issues of the two countries.

During the meeting the sides touched upon the development of high-level political dialogue between the two countries and the works implemented in the frames of the Armenian-Iranian Inter-governmental joint commission.

Minister Nalbandian reaffirmed Armenia’s position over Iran’s nuclear program that the issue should be solved through negotiations and dialogue.

The interlocutors discussed a number of regional and global issues, as well, and exchanged views on the developments in Syria.

In his part, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Araghchi underlined that Iran sees the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh issue exclusively through peaceful means based on the principals of international law.
