On January 25 the Armenian Minister of Foreign Affairs Edward Nalbandian received the Head of the CIS observation mission at the 2012 RA parliamentary elections, First Deputy Head of the CIS Executive Committee Vladimir Garkun.

Welcoming the guests, Minister Nalbandian stressed the importance of the CIS observation mission’s activities and expressed gratitude for their regular careful attention to the electoral processes in Armenia.

Vladimir Garkun commended the conditions created for the implementation of the observation mission and informed that about 170 observers from the CIS would follow the elections. The mission will be headed by CIS Executive Secretary Sergey Lebedev.

The Head of the CIS observation mission presented the CIS observation mission’s agenda and the principles and standards for drafting of a final report on elections.

The sides touched upon the agenda issues of the CIS Foreign Ministerial Council scheduled for April 4.
