On February 22 Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian received Haoliang Xu, UNDP Deputy Regional Director for Europe and the CIS.

Minister Nalbandian mentioned that last year Armenia celebrated the 20th anniversary of its membership to the United Nation Organization and it can be stated that during those two decades Armenia has been actively involved in the Organization's activities.

Minister Nalbandian expressed satisfaction with the 20 years of effective activities of the UN Office in Yerevan, as well.

Expressing gratitude for the reception, Haoliang Xu highly commended the existing cooperation between the Armenian Government and UNDP and mentioned that annually the projects implemented by UN in Armenia have become more effective and inclusive.

The sides shared the opinion that the United Nations Development Programme in Armenia (UNDAF) for 2010-2015 covers a wide range of issues, the implementation of which by the UN expert support would provide an opportunity to Armenia to realize a number of projects under the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

During the meeting the sides touched upon the implementation of several initiatives implemented by the joint efforts of Armenia and the UNDP.
