On July 15 Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia met with the Chairperson-in-Office of the OSCE and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Leonid Kozhara who paid a working visit to Yerevan.

Welcoming the guest Edward Nalbandian emphasized: “Armenia and Ukraine have centuries-old traditions of friendship and today bilateral relations are being built on that basis. There are all the conditions to render a new quality to the cooperation in different areas.”

“Armenia supports the Chairmanship of Ukraine in the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe and we are ready to bring our contribution to the implementation of the Ukrainian priorities and we will assist the steps intended to increase the intensity and vitality of the Organization during the Ukrainian chairmanship”-Minister Nalbandian added.

During the meeting the sides had a discussion over the cooperation in the framework of the OSCE and exchanged views concerning the agenda questions of OSCE activities and the planned reforms in increase the intensity of the Organization.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia presented recent the developments in the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process and the measures undertaken by Armenia and the international community in that direction.

“Armenia has always supported the peaceful resolution of Nagorno-Karabakh issue and our approach is in line with the approach of the international community reflected in the joint statements of the Presidents of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair Countries in 2009 in L’Aquilla, in 2010 in Muskoka, in 2011 in Deauville, in 2012 in Los Cabos, in 2013 in Enniskillen.”-Minister Nalbandian stressed.

In this context the Chairperson-in-Office of the OSCE underlined that the Ukrainian Chairmanship supports the activities of the Co-Chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group as well as confidence building measures. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia highly appreciated the activities of the OSCE office in Yerevan.

In the context of the Armenian Chairmanship in the Council of Europe questions concerning the cooperation between the CoE and the OSCE were discussed during the talks.

The meeting between Edward Nalbandian and Leonid Kozhara was followed by a joint press-conference.
