Edward Nalbandian had a meeting at the Faculty of International Relations of Yerevan State University on the occasion of the start of the university year.

On September 2 Minister of Foreign Affairs Edward Nalbandian visited Yerevan State University where he read the first lecture of the year at the Faculty of International Relations according to the established tradition. During the meeting the leadership of the University and the Faculty as well as professors and lecturers were present.

Congratulating the first-year students on the occasion of entering one of the most prestigious faculties of YSU, the Minister wished them success and a fruitful university year.

During his speech and question and answer session Edward Nalbandian presented the approaches of Armenia concerning several international and regional issues.

Turning to the developments in the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process throughout the year, Minister Nalbandian underlined the Statement by the Heads of Delegation of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair countries during OSCE Ministerial Council in Dublin in December 2012 which is in line with the position of Armenia as well as statements on Nagorno-Karabakh issue which were adopted in the framework of OSCE Ministerial Councils during the last five years.

Edward Nalbandian also underlined the Joint statement on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict by the Presidents of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair Countries which was adopted during G8 summit held in Enniskillen, UK, on June 2013 as well as previous four statements on the same level. Armenia highly appreciates the approach of continuing the negotiations on the basis of the principles presented as an integrated whole which is expressed in those important documents.

During the meeting Edward Nalbandian also presented the priorities of the Armenian Chairmanship in the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, events undertaken by Armenia and the steps towards increasing the role of the organization.
Minister of Foreign Affairs also turned to the topic of Armenian Chairmanship in the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization (BSEC).

Students present at the meeting were also interested in the approach of Armenia on Syria crisis and the possible developments of the conflict. Minister Nalbandian expressed his deepest concern about day-to-day deteriorating humanitarian situation of the country which seriously affect on the civilian population, including the Armenian community of Syria. He told that the leadership of Armenia does a large amount of work in different directions and levels which have a primary goal to ensure the security of Armenian community in Syria as well as preserving the Armenian cultural heritage.

Answering questions Edward Nalbandian also touched upon the allied relations between Armenia and Russia and the partnership with European Union, the USA and neighboring countries as well as expanding ties with other countries.

Minister Nalbandian also said that during the first half of the year his meetings in all capitals of the UN Security Council permanent members have been held. During the meetings with Foreign Ministers of those countries important agreements were reached.
