Meeting between the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Iran

On September 28 in New York Edward Nalbandian met Mohammad Javad Zarif, the Foreign Minister of Iran.

Ministers expressed their satisfaction with the high level and mutually beneficial cooperation stressing in that context that the participation of President Serzh Sargsyan in the inauguration ceremony of the President of Iran Hasan Rohani is an evidence of that.

The sides turned to the cooperation between the National Assembly of Armenia and Majlis of Iran stressing the importance of inter-parliamentary friendship groups.

During the conversation the sides had an exchange of ideas concerning cooperation between the two countries in the fields of trade, economy, energy and transport.

The heads of Armenian and Iranian diplomacy also discussed the measures taken for the settlement of Syrian crisis.

Ministers Nalbandian and Zarif talked about the negotiation process on Iranian nuclear program, stressing the importance of the positive tendencies in that direction.

The sides also touched upon the Nagorno-Karabakh negotiations. In this context Foreign Minister of Iran reaffirmed the support of his country to the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

Edward Nalbandian invited his Iranian counterpart to pay a visit to Armenia.
