Minister of Foreign Affairs met with the Secretary-General of the World Meteorological Organization

On October 18 Minister of Foreign Affairs Edward Nalbandian met Michel Jarraud, the Secretary-General of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO).

During the meeting where Levon Vardanyan, the Director of Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations participated, Minister Nalbandian stressed the importance of the cooperation between Armenia and WMO, which is a specialized agency of the UN.

Minister Nalbandian expressed gratitude for the permanent support of the WMO, particularly for the technical assistance which was received in the framework of the Voluntary Cooperation Program. He also added that Armenia is interested in practicing the progressive experience and knowledge in the area of meteorology and expects consistent support of the WMO in this aspect.

Expressing gratitude for the reception, the Secretary-General of the WMO noted that Armenia is one of the active members of the Organization and participates in all eight directions of the partnership within it. He underlined that Armenia has successfully combined areas of meteorology and hydrology. He also highly appreciated the fact that hydrometeorology is taught in Armenia on university level.
