Minister of Foreign Affairs received the EU Special Representative

21 January, 2014

On January 21, the Armenian Minister of Foreign Affairs Edward Nalbandian received Philippe Lefort, the EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia.

Minister Nalbandian thanked Philippe Lefort for his two and half years of work towards enhancing Armenia-EU relations and wished him success in his future activities.
The sides discussed Armenia-EU relations and touched upon regional conflicts and efforts exerted for their settlement.

Minister Nalbandian drew the attention of Philippe Lefort to the bellicose statements and provocative activities of Azerbaijan. The Minister underlined that despite several appeals and calls of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair countries about the necessity of consolidation of ceasefire, victims of consistent violations of ceasefire by Azerbaijan on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border and on the line of contact between Artsakh and Azerbaijan are becoming not only servicemen. The Armenian Foreign Minister stated that such provocations undermine the efforts of Armenia and the Co-Chair countries towards a peaceful settlement.
