Minister Nalbandian received Congressional delegation of the USA

On April 24 Foreign Minister of Armenia Edward Nalbandian received US Congressional delegation, led by Ed Royce, Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the House of Representatives. The delegation was comprised of Congressmen Eliot Lance Engel, David Cicilline and Congresswoman Lois Frankel.

Minister Nalbandian welcomed the visit by the House of Representative Committee members to Armenia and stressed the importance of their consistent efforts in the development of friendly cooperation between Armenia and the United States.

The Minister highly appreciated the consistent steps of the delegation members in achieving recognition of the Armenian Genocide, considering their visit as symbolic since they arrived in Armenia on the 99th anniversary Commemoration of the Armenian Genocide, the first genocide of the 20th century.

Expressing gratitude for the reception, the USA Congressmen highlighted that the visit gave a good opportunity for an acquisition of first-hand information concerning regional issues as well as reassured that they would continue contributing to the development of relations between Armenia and the US.

During the conversation both sides underlined that Armenian-American ties were at a high level and that existing mutual trust between two states was a good guarantee for the expansion of cooperation in various fields.

Minister Nalbandian presented the priorities of Armenia’s foreign policy, Armenia’s approaches to the resolution of regional and international issues, efforts of Armenia and OSCE Minsk group Co-chairs towards peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
