Edward Nalbandian had a meeting at the Faculty of International Relations of YSU on the occasion of the start of the study year

On September Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian visited Yerevan State University where he had traditionally the first lecture of the study year at the Faculty of International Relations. The event was attended by the leadership of YSU and the Faculty, professors, lecturers, etc.

Edward Nalbandian congratulated the guests upon the start of the year and whished a fruitful study year. Addressing his speech to the first-year students, Minister Nalbandian wished success to them who represent one of the most renowned faculties of YSU.

During his speech and the Q&A session Edward Nalbandian presented Armenia’s approach to a number of regional and international problems as well as the ways of their solution.

The Minister touched upon the Nagorno-Karabakh resolution process emphasizing that Armenia will further its steps together with the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair countries directed towards exceptionally peaceful settlement of the issue.

Answering questions Edward Nalbandian spoke on Armenian-Russian strategic relations and the process of Armenia’s membership to the Eurasian Union which is based on the strategic and economic interests of Armenia.

The Minister presented the consisted work done by the Foreign Ministry and the Armenian Diplomatic Missions towards the implementation of directives of the President of the Republic on organization of events in the eve of the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.

Edward Nalbandian briefed on the steps for enhancing the partnership with the United States, the European Union. He also touched upon the relations with neighboring countries and expanding ties with other states.

The students were also interested in the recent visit of the Foreign Minister to Ankara on the occasion of the inauguration ceremony of the President of Turkey. On this topic Minister Nalbandian stated that it was an opportunity to hand the official invitation of President Serzh Sargsyan to the President of Turkey Erdogan to attend the Commemoration ceremony, dedicated to the victims of the Armenian Genocide that will take place in Yerevan on April 24, 2015. Edward Nalbandian reaffirmed the approach of Armenia to normalize Armenian-Turkish relations without preconditions, which is supported by the international community.

In the presence of Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian and YSU Rector Aram Simonyan the Secretary General of the Ministry Shahen Avakian and the Dean of the Faculty of International Relations Gegham Petrosyan signed a Memorandum of Cooperation which is intended to enhance the cooperation established during recent years between the Foreign Ministry and the Faculty of International Relations of Yerevan State University.
