Ambassador Kocharyan meetings with Prime Minister and Speaker of the Parliament of Lebanon
14 February, 2015On February 14, Ambassador of Armenia to Lebanon Ashot Kocharian was received by the Prime Minister of Lebanon Tammam Salam and the Speaker of Lebanese parliament Nabih Berri.
During the meetings, issues regarding the development and expansion of Armenian-Lebanese bilateral cooperation were discussed. Importance was attached to the exchange of high-level visits both on governmental and parliamentarian levels. The sides expressed their confidence that mutual visits will promote further development of Armenian-Lebanese cooperation in all the spheres and strengthen friendship between two countries and people. Ambassador Kocharian expressed gratitude to the Lebanese people and Lebanon, whose parliament recognized the Armenian Genocide.
Ambassador commended brotherly attitude of Lebanon towards the Armenian community. The sides underlined that the Armenian community of Lebanon actively participates in political, socio-economic and cultural life of Lebanon, being a reliable and strong bridge between two friendly countries and peoples, preserving its rich culture and values.
Upon the request of the Lebanese side Ambassador Kocharian presented some details of scheduled events, dedicated to the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide, as well as joint efforts exerted by Armenia and OCSE Minsk Group Co-Chairs aimed at the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh issue.
Issues related to regional developments and internal political situation in Lebanon have also been touched upon.
