Event dedicated to Centennial of Armenian Genocide held at Berlin Parliament

On February 26, an event dedicated to the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide was held at Berlin Parliament, giving start to scheduled events in Germany.

The event was organized by the Embassy of Armenia in Germany, Parliament of Berlin and German Central body for Centennial of the Armenian Genocide. Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Armenia Yervand Zakharyan, members of Bundestag and State Diets of Berlin, Brandenburg and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, high-level official of the Federal Foreign Office, Ambassadors and diplomats, accredited in Germany, journalists as well as representatives of Armenian, Greek, Assyrian, Jewish and Alawi Communities of Germany.

Member of the board of the Armenian Community of Berlin Vardges Alyanak delivered welcoming speech, Chargé d'affaires of Armenia to Germany Ashot Smbatyan and President of the Parliament of Berlin Ralf Wieland made speeches. Professor of the Potsdam University and Director of the Moses Mendelssohn Centre Julius Schoeps made an extensive presentation on the Armenian Genocide.

Famous musicians Sergey Khachatryan, Lusine Khachatryan and Koryun Asatryan performed works by Komitas, Babajanyan, Marcello and Bach.
