Event dedicated to the Centennial of Armenian Genocide held in Belarus

From February 24 through February 27 in the framework of “Never Again” project movies, dedicated to Centennial of Armenian Genocide, were shown, sponsored by the Embassy of Armenia to Belarus and “Golden apricot” international film festival.

On February 24, interviews were held on Belarusian “Radio ONT” with film director and “Golden apricot” international film festival director Harutyun Khachatryan, Honorary Chairman of “Golden apricot” international film festival, RA Ambassador-at-Large Levon Sargsyan and American Armenian film director Carla Krapetyan, who presented “Never Again” project, showing of movies and touched upon the history of Armenian Genocide.

On the same day, at the faculty of History at Belarusian State University the movie Screamers by Carla Karapetyan was shown. Before that Ambassador of Armenia to Belarus Armen Khachatrian, Levon Sargsyan, Harutyun Khachatryan and Carla Karapetyan delivered speeches, presenting history of Armenia Genocide and scheduled events on Centennial, also briefed about shooting of the movie.

On February 25, the project “Never Again” was launched at “Mir” cinema in Minsk, an event, attended by ambassadors and diplomats, accredited in Belarus, politicians and public figures, intellectuals, journalists and representatives of Armenian community. In his welcoming remarks, Ambassador Khachatrian presented “Never Again” project. Levon Sargsyan spoke about history of Armenian Genocide and continuing denial policy of Turkey. Film director Carla Karapetyan also made a speech, revealing the idea of her movie and its history.

On February 26 and 27 movies “Ararat”, “Mayrig”(Mother), “Tattoos of Grandma” and other short-length movies were shown at “Mir” cinema.
