Ambassador Aznavour participated at the discussion on the Armenian Genocide at the Federal Assembly of Switzerland

On March 11, with participation of Ambassador of Armenia to Switzerland Charles Aznavour a discussion on “Mets Yeghern 100 years on. Consequences of the denial of the Armenian Genocide” was held with parliamentarians of the Federal Assembly of Switzerland.

Co-Chairmen of Armenia-Switzerland Parliamentary Friendship Group from both chambers of the Parliament of Switzerland, National Council and Council of States, Ueli Leuenberger, Dominique de Buman, Hans Alther, representatives of all four political groups took part at the discussion.

French Armenian historian, lecturer at the French Institute of Geopolitics Raymond Kevorkian presented historical and legal aspects of the Armenia Genocide, Turkey’s denial policy and its consequences.

During the discussion, Swiss parliamentarians raised numerous issues, including those of international recognition of the Armenian Genocide, situation in the Middle East, particularly, Turkey’s role in the context of Syrian and Iraqi crises, efforts of the international community towards prevention of crimes against humanity, installation of “Streetlights of Memory” memorial in Geneva.

A book entitled “Armenian Genocide Memorial” in co-authorship of Raymond Kevorkian and Yves Ternon was presented at the end of the discussion.
