Exhibition on the Armenian Genocide at the Mémorial de la Shoah in Paris

On April 2, ceremony of official opening of the exhibition dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide was organized at the Mémorial de la Shoah in Paris, with participation of Ambassador of Armenia to France Vigen Chitechian and President of Mémorial de la Shoah in Paris Eric de Rothschild.

Before the official opening, Ambassador Chitechian and the leadership of the Mémorial toured exhibition hall, accompanied by responsible for the exhibition historian Yves Ternon and Claire Mouradian. Afterwards, an official opening was held at the Amphitheater of the Mémorial, attended by politicians of France, researches, journalists and hundreds of guests. Ambassador Chitechian, Eric de Rothschild, Yves Ternon and Claire Mouradian delivered welcoming messages.

In his remarks, Ambassador Chitechian stressed absolute significance of the presentation, expressed gratitude for the initiative to the President of Mémorial de la Shoah in Paris Eric de Rothschild and responsible researchers. Ambassador commended established over recent years cooperation between Mémorial de la Shoah and Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute, expressed satisfaction with further deepening of relations of the two institutions in near future, through signing of Cooperation Agreement. “Our fight is civilizational one. We proceed from the principle that the mission of the human being in this world is not perpetration of atrocities. Our fight is against distortion of image and mission of the human being. The fight, aimed at the protection of humane essence and dignity”, concluded the Ambassador.

After official part of the opening ceremony, shot in 1919 movie “The Auction of Souls” and documentary “Orphans of Genocide”, based on “Ravished Armenia” book by Aurora Mardiganian, were screened.

The exhibition, dedicated to the Armenian Genocide is open at Mémorial de la Shoah by September 27.
