Concert dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide in Strasbourg

On April 11, under the auspices of Mr. Armen Papikyan, the Permanent Representative of Armenia to the Council of Europe, the 10th charity concert of the orchestra La Philharmonie de Poche was held in the Temple Neuf Church of Strasbourg. The orchestra La Philharmonie de Poche is composed of musicians from symphonic and philharmonic orchestras of Strasbourg, Baden-Baden and Freibourg, the Altitude choir and is headed by the well-known Armenian conductor Vahan Mardirossian.

Politicians, public figures, diplomats, journalists and representatives of the Armenian community attended the concert.

In his welcoming remarks, Ambassador Papikyan briefly presented the activity of the orchestra and the message of the day. Reflected on the commemoration of the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide Ambassador Papikyan mentioned that the interpretation of the Requiem by Gabriel Fauré during the concert is a tribute paid to one and a half million innocent victims of the Armenian Genocide.

Works by Komitas and Babajanyan were also performed during the concert.
