Requiem mass in Montreal, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide

On April 11, in the frameworks of the events on the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide requiem mass was performed in Montreal, Canada. The requiem by Petros Shoujounian was presented by renowned St. Lawrence Choir, under the baton of conductor Philippe Bourqe, at Saint-Jean-Baptiste church in front of 2,500 spectators. Sasha Djihanian, Marie-Annick Beliveau, Elie Berberian and Vartan Gabrielian joined the Canadian choir as soloists.

In his welcoming remarks, Ambassador of Armenia to Canada Armen Yeganian emphasized the importance of cultural events in Canada, organized in commemoration of the Centennial of Medz Yeghern. Ambassador continued, that it shows, the genocidal Ottoman Empire was unable not only to destroy the Armenian nation, but its creative spirit, either.
