On April 22, Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian met Secretary General of the Council of Europe Thorbjørn Jagland.

Welcoming the guest, Minister Nalbandian commended participation of Secretary General of the Council of Europe in Global Forum “Against the Crime of Genocide”, held in the frameworks of events dedicated to the Armenian Genocide Centenary and appreciated his speech at the opening session.

Attaching significance to the holding of the Forum Thorbjørn Jagland expressed hope, that the discussions would be useful both to explore the causes and elimination of consequences of crimes against humanity of the past as well as preventing new heinous crimes. In this context the Secretary General of the CoE attached importance to the active efforts of Armenia in the prevention of acts of genocide.

During the meeting, thoughts were exchanged on agenda issues of the Council of Europe.
