Armenia’s Foreign Minister received Canada's Citizenship and Immigration Minister

On April 23, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Edward Nalbandian met Citizenship and Immigration Minister of Canada Chris Alexander, who arrived in Yerevan to take part in the events dedicated to the Armenian Genocide Centenary. Harold Albrecht, Chair of the Canada-Armenia Parliamentary Friendship Group was in the delegation.

Welcoming the guest, Minister Nalbandian highly appreciated the principled position of the Canadian authorities on recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide and attached importance to the efforts exerted by Canada in the prevention of future acts of genocide and crimes against humanity.

Minister Alexander mentioned that it is a great honour for him to represent the Government of Canada at the events dedicated to the Centenary of the Armenian Genocide, and stressed that both Chambers of Canada’s Parliament have recognized Armenian Genocide.

The sides touched upon issues on the agenda of bilateral cooperation, in this context commended the activities by Friendship Groups in Parliaments of Armenia and Canada that bring further impetus to Armenian-Canadian relations. Possibility of establishment of Visa Facilitation Regime between two states was touched upon. Cooperation within International Organization of La Francophonie was mentioned.

Edward Nalbandian and Chris Alexander exchanged thoughts on a range of regional issues.
