Armenian Foreign Minister Received the Delegation Headed by U.S. Secretary of Treasury

On April 23 Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandyan met with U.S. Secretary of Treasury Jacob Lew who has arrived in Armenia as the head of the Presidential delegation to represent the U.S. at the commemoration events of the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide. U.S. Presidential delegation includes Representatives of the U.S. Congress- Frank Pallone, Anna Eshoo, Jackie Speier and David Trott.

Welcoming the guests Foreign Minister Nalbandyan thanked the U.S. delegation for their participation at the commemoration of the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide. He emphasized that on this special day for the Armenian people the presence of numerous delegations in Yerevan demonstrates that the Armenian Genocide is not just a national tragedy but a crime against the humanity. Minister Nalbandyan underscored the joint efforts of the international community in preventing genocides and thanked the U.S. for co-sponsoring the Resolution on Prevention of Genocide at the Human Rights Council of the U.N. together with Armenia.

U.S. Secretary of Treasury Jacob Lew mentioned that it was an honor for him to represent the U.S. President and people in Armenia on April 24.

Minister Nalbandyan expressed his gratitude to the congressmen included in the delegation and their colleagues of the Armenian Caucus for their consistent efforts towards the recognition of the Armenian Genocide.

Other issues discussed during the meeting included the development of bilateral cooperation in different areas, activities of the U.S.-Armenia Economic Task Force (USATF) and there was an exchange of ideas on the activities in developing a Trade and Investment Framework Agreement between Armenian and the U.S.
